The effects of drug abuse have done more harm than good to the users. Drug users only experience temporary highs after they have taken the drugs, only to live a life full of pain and regret. Drugs are very dangerous and they should be avoided at all costs if you want to lead a normal and healthy life.
How dangerous are the effects of drug abuse? The effects of drug abuse cause the drug user intense pain because the user will have to deal with these unpleasant effects for as long as they live. Although the intensity of these effects is usually minimized by treatment, some of the painful reactions will accompany one to the grave. This means that, although you will be able to live a normal, drug-free life after treatment, there are some other effects that you will struggle to get rid of.
An example is addiction. If you happen to be addicted to a certain drug, even after treatment you will notice that the craving for that drug remains. This does not mean that you give up on your recovery process and start taking the drug again. You should try your best to keep off the drug. This can be easier if you find activities that will keep you busy, so you won’t have time to think about the drug.
The effects of drug abuse can be fatal. Prolonged use of drugs makes one totally dependent to the drug such that their body cannot function without it. So when the person is sober, their body will react in violent convulsions which may end up causing accidents leading to death. Especially if the convulsions find someone when they are near a fire, crossing a highway, or near sharp objects.
The effects of drug abuse may lead to insanity, a state where someone loses their mind and they have to be admitted into psychiatric institutions. The drugs interfere with the brain’s functions. This means that one’s brain stops functioning the normal way as the presence of the drugs in the brain alter its functions.
Effects of drug abuse may also lead to permanent blindness. A majority of drugs affect one’s sight. It always starts with blurry vision and progresses until the user cannot see. However, this will only take place when the user refuses to go for treatment and continues abusing drugs. If a drug user goes for treatment on time, all these unfortunate situations may be avoided as they will be treated and they will be able to conquer their drug abuse problems.
